After the building of a monstrous asylum, those employed there did not want to reside on the same grounds as the patients they were treating. The solution to this was to build neighborhoods on the surrounding land. Soon after, businesses popped up and it became its own little town. The population consisted of more than just the employees of the asylum, people looking for a new life moved to the unnamed city. It wasn’t until an elderly man by the name of Bruce McCarvel stepped up and took up the position of Sheriff that the city became official. A year after becoming sheriff, he was killed in fire that burned half the town. The survivors, mourning the loss of the brave man, named the town after him.
Without any help, the tiny town picked itself up and grew. Within five years, they built their first schools. In another ten they got their first college. After a few more decades, the town had turned into a huge and prosperous city. And like most big cities, politics got big. The once friendly city turned into a place ruled by the wealthy and powerful. Crime increased and those in authority striked up deals with the criminals and mob bosses. When Mr.Lanahan reopened his family’s asylum, it was used less as a place to treat those in need of medical help and more as a prison for the wealthy to throw their enemies and threats in.
